Each year millions of sharks are hunted for their fins. They are captured, their fins are sliced off and then they are thrown back into the ocean, either dying or already dead. This act is known as 'Finning', and it done to satisfy an apetite for dishes such as shark fin soup, which is popular in many countries.

Consuming dishes containing shark fin is unnecessary and cruel, as shark fin has little last and may even contain high levels of mercury. By signing this petition and pledging not to eat anything containing whale fin, you are contributing to fight to save these endangered animals

That's horrible! Sharks are among my favorite animals. And it's bad enough they kill them and take their fins, but to do it while the shark is alive is even worse. But sadly, I don't think people will ever care about anyone or anything but theirselves and their money.
